Privacy Policy
There is no account to create, and the downloader never stores the media you save. The site is free because it shows ads from Google AdSense, and it uses Google Analytics to understand which pages help. This page explains what each part collects and how to switch it off.

The short version
- The downloader receives the link you paste and your IP address, uses them to fetch that public post and to limit abuse, and keeps no copy of any video or photo.
- Google Analytics measures how the site is used, with cookies, once you allow it where consent is required.
- Google AdSense shows ads, which can be personalised from your browsing on this and other sites, once you allow it where consent is required.
- You can refuse or withdraw consent, opt out of personalised ads, and block cookies in your browser. The choices section shows how.
What the downloader receives
When you look up a Reel or post, three things reach our server:
- The link you paste. It is used to fetch that post and nothing else.
- Your IP address. Every web request carries one. The downloader uses it only to rate limit lookups so one visitor cannot exhaust the service for everyone.
- Ordinary request metadata such as user agent, timestamp, and response status, written to short-lived operational logs.
The downloader never asks for your name, email, or Instagram login, because none of it is needed.
What the downloader keeps
Media files: never. When you download, the file is streamed from Meta's content network through our proxy to your browser as it arrives. It is not written to disk or copied to storage, and no download history is recorded.
Post metadata: a few minutes. The list of media in a post (resolutions, durations, caption) is cached briefly so repeating a lookup is fast and Instagram is not asked twice. It expires on its own, typically within ten minutes.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, to understand how visitors find and use the site: which pages are viewed, how long visits last, which site or search sent the visit, and the general type of device, browser, and approximate location (country or city) involved. We use these reports to fix broken pages and improve the tool.
Google Analytics uses first-party cookies, mainly _ga and
_ga_*, which last up to two years, to tell visits apart. Google
Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We do not use Analytics to identify
you, and we do not send it your name, email, or Instagram account details. Google
explains how it handles this data in
How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Advertising
The site displays ads served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
Depending on your location and your consent choice, the ads you see may be personalised (based on your interests and browsing) or non-personalised (based on the page you are reading and your general location). Advertising cookies are also used to limit how often you see an ad, measure ad performance, and detect fraud. Google describes these cookies in How Google uses cookies in advertising.
We do not choose which individual ads appear and do not endorse the advertisers. Clicking an ad takes you to a third-party site with its own privacy policy.
Cookies and local storage
- Theme preference: light or dark mode is saved in your browser's
localStorageand never leaves your device. - Consent choice: the consent tool stores your decision so it does not ask again on every page.
- Analytics cookies:
_gaand_ga_*from Google Analytics, as described above. - Advertising cookies: set by Google and its advertising partners,
for example
__gads,__gpi, andIDE. They typically last from several months to two years.
The downloader itself, including the lookup and download proxy, sets no cookies.
Your choices
- Consent. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK, and Switzerland are asked through a consent message before analytics or advertising cookies are used for purposes that require consent. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through the privacy and cookie settings link that the consent message provides.
- Personalised ads. Opt out of personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of many third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info (or youronlinechoices.eu in Europe). You will still see ads, but they will not be based on your browsing.
- US state privacy rights. If you live in a US state with a consumer privacy law, such as California, you may have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising. Where that applies, the consent message offers the opt-out, and Google's Ads Settings work everywhere.
- Analytics. Install Google's Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on to stop Analytics from receiving data from your browser on any site.
- Your browser. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The downloader keeps working; ads may become less relevant.
Legal bases
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on your consent for analytics and personalised advertising cookies, and on our legitimate interests for running the downloader securely: rate limiting, short-lived operational logs, and the brief metadata cache. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting the downloader.
Who else processes data
Cloudflare runs the network this service is deployed on and processes requests on our behalf as an infrastructure provider.
Google provides Google Analytics and Google AdSense, as described above, and may work with other certified advertising partners to fill ad space.
Meta (Instagram) is where the media comes from. Downloads and playback are proxied, so your IP address and browser details are not exposed to Meta when you play or save a Reel. The small preview images in the results load directly from Meta's CDN, so your browser does contact it for those.
These providers may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States, under their own safeguards for international transfers.
Children
Reels Downloader is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, use the Contact page and we will delete it.
Email correspondence
If you email the address on the Contact page, your address, message, and anything you include are handled by your email provider and ours. That correspondence is separate from downloader requests and may be kept as long as needed to answer, investigate a report, protect the service, or meet legal obligations. Do not send passwords, session cookies, or unnecessary sensitive data.
Your rights and requests
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or object to the processing of your personal data, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Because there is no account, the downloader holds no profile about you; its only records are short-lived logs and a cache that clears itself. Analytics and advertising data are held by Google and can be managed with the tools above. For anything else, use the Contact page.
